This weekend, our local Wildlife Refuge offered monarch butterfly tagging, as part of the nationwide effort to develop a clearer understanding of how monarchs make such a tremendous migration every year to Mexico. There was a very well done presentation that included the reasons monarch populations have declined (industrial farming), as well as how to plant a butterfly garden of your own! It even included information about the importance of all pollinators on our food supply - I was impressed :)
Let the butterfly chasing begin!
We didn't catch a monarch - but did get to tag one.
It was a hot & humid morning, but one of the best homeschooling adventures so far.
Can't wait to do it again next year.
